Our community partners are the reason Degardis reaches the people it’s built for. They bring trust, local knowledge, and direct access to the transgender community in ways no outside organization can replicate.
Khawaja Sira Society
Khawaja Sira Society (KSS) is a non-profit, community-based organisation working to advance the rights, health, safety, dignity, and wellbeing of transgender, gender-diverse, and other underserved communities in Pakistan. Established in 2012 and registered in 2015, KSS has more than a decade of experience combining community knowledge and lived experience with technical expertise, research, service delivery, advocacy, and strategic partnerships. With physical offices and core programme presence across Punjab, including Lahore, Sargodha, Sheikhupura, and its wider operational network across districts and communities, KSS works through community-rooted networks and partnerships across Pakistan.
KSS envisions a Pakistan, and a wider Asia and world, where individuals can exercise their fundamental human rights and pursue personal and professional excellence regardless of intersectional identities that may place them at risk of marginalisation. Its mission is to advance social and health rights by strengthening community systems, developing community-led interventions, addressing discrimination and stigma, and creating enabling environments grounded in equity, justice, safety, health, and wellbeing. KSS’s work is organised around four core strategic priorities: Health, Environmental Justice, Peacebuilding, and Protection, translating community-identified needs and lived realities into services, advocacy, systems strengthening, and institutional change. This approach is rooted in the belief that nothing about communities should happen without communities, with community experience shaping programmes, evidence, partnerships, and pathways toward lasting social change.
